THE BIG NIGHT

The CD release event for OLD STAG that Billy Beard and I have been working on for the last few months is beginning to come together in one sprawling phenomenal carnivalesque show. This is huge for me and for the record of which I'm so proud. It would mean the world to me to see your shining face in the 'pews' on Friday, Oct 3rd. This is going to be a one-of-a-kind KNOCKOUT night!

(info/details/tickets below)
(Please forward this to everyone on your email list. Want to have 'em hanging from the rafters + the moon in this extraordinary venue.)

2 early reviews of OLD STAG:

"What do you call a record with songs like “John Lennon’s Nose,” “Happy Lesbians in the Snow,” and one about a prostitute roommate who doesn’t eat? Especially when it’s just voice, keys, some occasional strings, and recorded in a living room? I call it a small masterpiece. Berlin’s made all kinds of music here for decades, and never fails to surprise, but rarely does anyone’s material match its delivery with such finesse. It’s impossible not to feel his experience in your gut, as his voice floats from whimsy to heartbreak, from ecstasy to absurdity, from wisdom to mystification, all set to words and music that unspool countless reels of a life lived fully, gladly (I’m pretty sure), and recklessly." (Joe Coughlin) THE NOISE

"From the delicate strings and more delicate feelings put across on this latest album from one of the area's most beloved legends, 'OLD STAG' simply reeks with beauty. It's simple. It's complex. It's low-tech. It's high art. It's beautiful." (Matt Robinson) MUSIC DISH

HOW TO GET TO PROSPECT HALL
1803 MASS AVE.  CAMBRIDGE MA 02140

photos of

1) parking - somewhat of a problem

a) the street - free after 6 but most of the spots will be taken
b) behind the former sears building. not cheap. $8-$15 bucks for the night
c) the big mall just across porter square in not a good idea. tickets and/or towing.

2) the T

best way to do this is to take the subway from wherever you live (or to car pool to a place where you can easily park for free near a Red Line stop) and take the Red Line to the Porter Square stop.
Prospect Hall is a 3 minute walk down mass ave from Porter towards Harvard sq and is on the left. A big white clapboard (former) church with a high steeple.
