rome is burning was, in a way, the last 'heavy'
rock band i had. it was also probably the loudest.
people in front rows covered their ears. i probably,
as a singer, didn't really belong in it either
- my voice too thin, my 'rock moves' too dated
(one leg up on the monitor, etc.) but it was fun,
primarily because jane was in it (who made us
laugh + who drank us under any table) + phil bynoe
who, besides having enormous 'thunder thighs', big as trees, + playing
his tits off on a steel double bass, was The Cleanest Neatest OCD Ever. the
trunk of his car was cleaner than my apartment.
important to say also that mike mangini was in a lotta ways the 'star' of the band
with a huge drummer/geek following. + julie (black lesbian) + me (white homo) made quite the modern couple on stage. the tunes
below explain themselves for the most part, but
i'd add that the studio work was recorded at
normandy sound in rhode island by the incredible (famous)
phil green. matt mckay played guitar + sang:
on all 48 tracks - 28 for drum kit alone. as did
phil, julie woods, jane + mike. the second
grouping incude songs written by mike + jane,
as well as by our new guitar player, neil goldberg.
PS. If ya want a full burn of all these email
Rick (Hit the Boot) the first batch are from the sessions with phil green, the second are either live or recorded on a 4-track in neil's house (not sure)
